Maternity - Sierra - Destination session in Maryland

I always consider my maternity sessions special as I make a connection with the expecting mama's but this time the session was even more special as it was for someone dear to me. Sierra was like a daughter to me as I jokingly adopted her and her hubby as family when he was stationed out by me. We grew a bond and became close to the point that Sierra was acting as my assistant for many of my photography sessions. I was sad when they moved away to Maryland and we kind of made a deal that if she got pregnant I would be flying out there for a maternity session. One day I got the call and was told that she was indeed pregnant so I started to make plans to come out to visit her and plan a very special maternity session.

I wanted to get a new dress for this special session even though Sierra had one since she started doing maternity photography as well. I wanted to shoot her in one of my dresses though and showed her the links to multiple vendors that I used and had her pick out a dress and then a color. She ended up picking this one and I ordered it and packed it up with me for the trip to Maryland.

Sierra picked out the location as well which was at Glenview Mansion at Rockville Maryland. It was a few hours to get out there but well worth it as the grounds were very pretty. If you do plan to go out there for photography be sure to check to see if there are any private parties happening as the good photography areas will be closed. We brought in her hubby for some of these photos. He was kidding around with Sierra but you can't tell with her serious looks on her face. Someone once joked and asked if she smiles at all but hey I think these photos are gorgeous.

This was a reenactment of one of their special photos they had as a younger couple. It seemed only fitting to have this scene again in an important stage in their lives.

I wasn't able to be there for the birth nor have I got to see baby in person yet but I'm hoping that one day soon I'll get to meet the little guy. I do miss this couple as again they were very dear to me and I'm glad I got to be a part of this special moment for them and to spend some time with them. It's the recharge I really needed. Love you girl!
