Ariana's family wanted to give her a special Quinceañera photo shoot by coming down from Odessa and having it done at White Sands National Park. I did have some concerns about the weather the day of the session so I had them first come to the studio to get in some photos before heading to the park.
Before arriving at my studio Ariana had stopped at Copper Rose Salon and Spa for her hair appointment which is just down the street from my studio.
Since it was such a long trip for her to take her photos I wanted to make sure that she got plenty in at we had winds and storms earlier that day and I had been checking the weather to see that it would pass hopefully at the time I normally head out to White Sands National Park.
Having a Quinceañera celebration is an important step in a young woman's life in the Latin community. While I don't photograph Quinceañera events myself I am often hired to do portrait sessions in advance of the big event. These photos often get printed in large prints or canvases to sit at the entrance of the event.
After we finished taking around 20 or more photos in the studio we then headed out to White Sands. Since Ariana was from Odessa this would give her some unique photos to show off at her Quinceañera so I made sure to take quite a few out there. There was a little wind we had to deal with but found a way to manage.
I wanted to give her some large majestic photos that amplified the beauty of the scenery of the location. The park is so vast and you can see white dunes for miles and the dunes make perfect backdrops for photos.
