When people look at my photos they will often see photos taken at White Sands, the creek or up in the mountains. For this Maternity photo session I had a whole new backdrop which was in Santa Fe, NM. When Mary reached out to me she told me how much she loved the work that she saw after seeing one of my Facebook posts about a Rainbow session I had done. She asked me if I was anywhere near Santa Fe and I explained that I'm based out of Alamogordo NM. She wanted for me to not only do a two dress Maternity session but a family session plus a gender reveal session as well. This would be a pretty good sized session. We worked out the details then set a date and I made the trip to Santa Fe.
Mary had purchased some gorgeous dresses for the girls to wear with her first Maternity gown. We did the first part of her session out of Railyard Park Santa Fe. Even though there were lots of people around we were able to find a few spots that had a great background to shoot in. We took this one with her three girls who at this point were excited for an upcoming gender reveal.
Next we brought in the boys for some photos with proud mama. That's five kids and one on the way. With three girls and two boys all we need is a boy to balance everything out. Mama is just glowing in this photo.
Afterwards we moved to the state capital grounds which had lots of trees, plants with some blooming away. Since Mary had picked out this red mermaid gown as her second dress we did a dress toss to give her a long flowing look.
Next I had the three girls change into boho style dresses that I have available for mommy & me type sessions. I brought multiple crowns to help match up with the different dresses. The girls just look so darling and were just a joy to work with.
Next it was time for the boys and I took photos of both her oldest and youngest child. Such a handsome young man and the little one was just so adorable and fun. I took lots of photos of both.
A lot of times I like to take photos of mom and dad placing their hands on the belly and making a small heart. This time since we had so many children in this session I thought it would be great to have a photo with all of the children's hands. The littlest was not as interested but I feel the photo still came out looking great. After the session was over I thanked Mary for asking me to come up to Santa Fe and do this session. I had a chance to do a destination maternity shoot and so far this was the furthest I have traveled for photography. It made me realize that I need to travel more and get opportunities to see more areas with beautiful photographic backgrounds.
I'm already booking more trips out of town and I have Mary to thank for that. Oh and for those that were wondering she is having a boy so she will be blessed with three girls and three boys. What a perfect little family. I wish her all the best!
