Maternity Frequently Asked Questions

Maternity FAQ

What is the best time for maternity portraits?or newborn portraits?

We recommend that a maternity shoot be scheduled close to your 30 week mark. Give us a call in your second trimester to book your session!

Your Newborn session should be 5-10 days after delivery so you really want to plan it a month in advance to ensure we have everything or can order whatever we need.

What should I expect in my session?

Our goal in our session is to make you feel as comfortable as possible. The more comfortable you feel, the better the photos will be! You know nothing about posing? That’s ok! That our job, the photographer will pose you and tell you exactly what to do!

What should I wear/how should I prepare?

When you schedule a session with us, you’ll also schedule a pre-session consultation to take place at the studio or over the phone. During the consultation, we’ll go over your ideas for the shoot, the best wardrobe to compliment your ideas, what to bring with you, and how to prepare for the shoot.

Do you have Dresses to rent/borrow?

Yes, I have currently a wide selection of dresses that you can borrow for your maternity session.  Most are available for the basic and standard maternity session and I have several premium dresses that I reserve for my Deluxe Maternity package.    You can schedule a time to look at the dresses in person and try them on.  This also helps you coordinate with any additional family that will be in the maternity session.  I have even invest in addition dresses for your young daughters to wear as well for some special matching sessions.

Can my husband/boyfriend and other children be in the picture?

Yes, all of our Maternity packages allow you to add your family to the session.  In fact I encourage it as there are some poses that work best with future-daddy-to-be in the photo.
